Pipe Fitting Standards: ANSI vs DIN

Pipe Fitting Standards: ANSI vs DIN

By Admin April 7, 2026 0 Comments

In the pipeline systems of petroleum and natural gas, flanges are critical components connecting pipes, valves, and pumps. Their selection directly affects the operational safety of the entire system.

"Safety in production is paramount; every flange gasket material must undergo rigorous pressure calculations."

— Technical Director, Jinhang Pipeline

Why Material Matching is Vital?

Different materials have vastly different expansion coefficients and corrosion resistance. For instance, using carbon steel instead of 316L stainless steel in acidic environments can lead to leakage within months.

  • Pressure Rating: Ensure the PN or Class value exceeds the system's maximum instantaneous pressure.
  • Sealing Types: Common types include RF (Raised Face), FF (Flat Face), and RTJ (Ring Type Joint).
  • Manufacturing: Forged flanges offer superior mechanical properties compared to cast ones.

Before placing an order, always request an MTR (Material Test Report) and confirm if additional NDT (Non-Destructive Testing) is required.
